"I have called you friends

for everything that I learned from my Father

I have made known to you"

 John 15:15

What love, that we can be friends of Jesus.  We can so often forget how vital friendships are until they are gone.  Jesus wanted his disciples to know before he left them that they were his friends. This relationship was not based on the fact that they lived close to each other or enjoyed the same sports; it wasn’t because they did the same things or went to the same place of work or education, which is so often what our friendships are based on, but on what they had shared spiritually together – this is why they were friends. When we share with each other the things we have learnt from God we too become friends.

We have so many opportunities to meet up with people who are true friends in Jesus Christ.  Transport is so easy in this country and we can afford to meet up as often as we like.  This is not the case in East Africa, countries such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia.  Here the young people just don’t have the means or opportunities for spiritual friendship that we do.

They are often isolated from others of their age who share their faith.  They have no opportunity to be sharpened spiritually by a friend.  No opportunity to talk spiritually about how to deal with youth issues, in a world that is pushing their God out and ridiculing His ways.  No one to help them up if they fall on their spiritual walk to God’s kingdom

"If one falls down his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up"!

True friendship is a gift from God and just think how often we take refuge in our friendships with each other so that we can take refuge in God and Jesus.

This is our opportunity to help the young people in East Africa also take refuge in true friendships.  To give them opportunities to talk often one to another about the word of God and how He has worked in their life to strengthen their faith.  To give them opportunities to develop true friendships that will last and grow as they walk, in fellowship, the road that leads to the Kingdom.

We want the young Christadelphians in Africa to run to God and take refuge.  We want them to find the other young people who are under God’s wings seeking refuge from the world.

All proceeds from this live concert will go to the AFRICA YOUTH CAMP fund.  This initiative was set up 3 years ago to run annual youth camps.  Sadly the fund has seriously diminished and at present no more camps can be funded unless we can raise some more cash.  In the current difficult economic times CBM needs to cut their activities by 25% and this means that the camps will suffer, not because they are unimportant, but because they are not high enough priority when placed alongside life threatening illnesses, famine and other serious welfare issues.

Please help us to be able to keep running these precious camps where young brothers and sisters can be strengthened together in their faith. Running to the kingdom with friends by their side, Jesus among them and God overshadowing them.
